The Rail District conducted a study that quantifies the financial and economic benefits of the Austin-San Antonio commuter rail system to the region, to the State of Texas and to Union Pacific Railroad.
ASAICRD continues work with Union Pacific Railroad toward the eventual re-routing of their through-traffic in the Austin-San Antonio Corridor to another right of way.
Station Area Economic Impact Analyses are now on-line.
The Rail District conducted economic impact analyses on the 15 preliminary station locations. The analyses focused on the economic development potential for each potential station area.
In the Austin-San Antonio Corridor, the fund could be used to relocate Union Pacific’s through-freight away from the heavily populated cities in the corridor.
In 2007 the State Legislature will consider dedicating a revenue source to fund the Rail Relocation Fund.
The Rail District conducts peer reviews to verify and crosscheck the validity of the data being developed
Ky elements such as population projections, ridership estimates, and project implementation costs, updated from the original 1999 Study.
Public Meetings were held during March of 2005 to solicit input during the District’s Alternatives Analysis process. Additional formal public meetings will be held during the Environmental Clearance and Permitting phase.
